The CEO Dinner

Al Yamamah University held the first CEO Dinner, an initiative to help the university postgraduate students and alumni learn and gain experience from the market leaders, hosting Mr. Georges Schorderet, CEO, Almarai as the keynote speaker on Wednesday 5th of December 2018, at the Movenpick Hotel in Riyadh.

The university hosted Mr. Schorderet to share his career experience as a CEO of such an inspiring leading company with our dear YU postgraduate students and alumni. This initiative is part of the university’s mission to combine theory with companies’ real practices.

Mr. Schorderet started his speech by stating that the CEO must ensure clarification of the company’s objectives with the employees in order to achieve success. He also pointed out that it is almost impossible to control the administrative change. However, it is possible to resist it or even disregard it in a way that leaves the most positive impact on the company.

Speaking about change as a fact in management and leadership, Mr. Schorderet stated that “change can either be a valuable opportunity or a destructive threat. This depends completely on how prepared we are to face it.”

The CEO later gave sincere advice based on his own personal experience to the attendees, expressing his genuine belief that celebrating success is the most powerful way to create a positive environment for a career journey.

Dr. Hussam Ramadan, President of Al Yamamah University later gave a speech about the role of the university in building a promising future, which is to provide the needed academic knowledge and practical experience as part of the YU postgraduate programs. He also added that The CEO Dinner aims to strengthen the spirit of belonging and communication between the university, its students and alumni.

By the end of Dr. Ramadan’s speech, he honored Mr. Schorderet as a sign of appreciation for his remarkable efforts.

 

MoU with the Saudi Council of Engineers

The University signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Council of Engineers to stimulate cooperation between the two sides. The agreement was signed by Dr. Hussam Ramadan, President of Al Yamamah University and Eng. Saad Alshahrani, Chairman of the Board, SCE.

This MoU will enable the two sides to develop a framework for their cooperation to achieve scientific and professional progress. It also aims to exchange expertise and technical information to attain their mutual objectives. The exchange of information, views and ideas will surely benefit both sides.

The Co-op seeks to train our future engineers professionally under the supervision of the most qualified instructors in the council. The program includes courses in research skills development and projects of mutual interest. In addition, the students will effectively take part in seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions and conferences that meet the academic and practical expectations of the MoU.

Dr. Ramadan said: “the signing of this MoU between the university and the Saudi Council of Engineers reflects the university’s aspiration to encourage and develop the Co-op in the field of academic achievement to improve the proficiency of our College of Architecture and Engineering students.” Mr, Alshahrani added that this initiative would enrich investment and excellent training in the field of engineering and vocational education.

YU as A Gold Sponsor of the International Conference on Education Evaluation

HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh Region honored the first day of the International Conference on Education Evaluation for 2018, where he handed a plaque of recognition to Al Yamamah University, represented by Dr. Hussam Ramdan, YU President, as a Gold Sponsor of the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the university and the Education Evaluation Commission. HE Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Saud, Chairman of the Education Evaluation Commission and Dr. Hussam Ramadan, President of Al Yamamah University signed the memorandum.

The MoU aims to activate the registration processes in the Saudi Arabia Qualifications Framework, evaluate the performance of the university, and cooperate with the university in the preparation and implementation of tests and standards to achieve their mutual goals.
